Welcome to Official Web Site of Council Member Stu Markham
Council Member Stu Markham Council Member Stu Markham is running for re-election to City Council. Election day is Tuesday, April 8, 2008. He was first elected in 2006. Stu was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended the University of Delaware from 1976 to 1980. He moved permanently to Newark in 1990.

Stu received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delaware in Political Science and concentrated his coursework in the Public Administration area. He received his Masters of Engineering Science, Computer Science in 1985 from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland.

Street lights help prevent crime.  Please be sure to report street lights that are out or are blinking to the Electric Department at 366-7050.  They will need a street address or the light number off a gold sticker.

Fireworks Viewing at the Reservoir

Curtis Paper Mill has been mostly demolished. There is some work to be done breaking up more concrete.
Dirt is being accumulated to place over parts of the remaining concrete. The majority of Council did not wish to spend $200,000 for restoration of the chimney at this time. The Mill's Chimney to be left standing but not restored for the time being.

A day to clean up the area around the CSX overpass was scheduled by the DNP (Downtown Newark Partnership). The site looks much better.
